Five years later, the artist caught the attention of the North American public by starring opposite Mark Harmon in the comedy Summer School and joining the cast of the comedy series Cheers.

The film’s global success even led the pair to star in two more installments in the franchise: Look Who’s Talking Too and Look Who’s Talking Now.

Alley won an Emmy and a Golden Globe in 1991 for her performance in Cheers. In 1994, the famous actress won her second Emmy for her work in the film David’s Mother.

Travolta’s tribute

Immediately after Kirstie Alley’s death was announced, actor John Travolta, who is her love partner in Look Who’s Talking, took to social media to make a declaration of love.

Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you Kirsti. I know we will meet again.
John Travolta

In 2012, Kirstie Alley confessed to The Barbara Walters Show that she and John Travolta almost got together on the set of Look Who’s Talking. However, her relationship with actor Parker Stevenson prevented her from running off to pursue the romance.

“Believe me I needed everything I had, inside, outside, it doesn’t matter not to run away and marry John. And to be with John for the rest of my life,” she said.

Despite the attraction, Kirstie never pursued a romance with Travolta outside of the big screen. She was married to Bob Alley and Parker Stevenson, with whom she adopted two children.
