How to avoid the chaos of Mexico City during the demonstration: schedule, closed roads and alternatives
The march commemorating the anniversary of the 1938 oil expropriation and the political power of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador begins this Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at the Zócalo Platte in Mexico City. The program of the event is not yet known, but López Obrador himself has spoken of a concert: “We will invite our singers, those who like the people, the people. It’s going to be a party because we’re rescuing Pemex and the Federal Electricity Commission,” he said.
The following streets will remain closed to vehicle traffic during the event: Circuit Plaza de la Constitución, Avenida 20 de Noviembre, José María Pino Suárez, 5 de Febrero, Corregidora and 5 de Mayo. Although the ceremony will begin at 5 p.m., security devices will be active two hours beforehand, according to the Citizen Security Secretariat. The involvement of more than 250 traffic officials is estimated, who will divert access for motorists via the traffic routes specified by the same body of the capital’s government.
