Loreto wins MasterChef Junior 10 and becomes the youngest winner

He grew up as a child in the kitchen of his grandmother and father's restaurant and inherited his passion for cooking from them. Loreto, the eight-year-old contestant from Mutxamel (Alicante), became the winner of MasterChef Junior 10 this Wednesday evening. It was the only repechage in the history of the children's competition to make it to the final duel. The prize for winning the edition, in addition to the trophy that recognizes her as winner, consists of a four-day cooking course at the Basque Culinary Center and 12,000 euros to continue her training.

In the final duel, Loreto and Jesús, the runner-up, cooked in front of the jury and chef Dabiz Muñoz. The applicant from Alicante has created a menu with dishes inspired by her life and the people around her. He made a successful steak tartare with mustard veil, crusty bread and cheese snow; a sea and mountain roasted sea bass with an emulsion of bones and roasted vegetables; and strawberries with liqueur, white chocolate ganache, yogurt crystal and rose petals. Dabiz Muñoz congratulated him on his steak tartare. “I'm speechless. There are some things that surprise me about this dish, such as the composition of the ingredients and the snow, which has a spectacular texture and totally refreshes the dish. It is very well crafted and very well spun. ” You can tell you come from a family of hoteliers because behind this dish is someone who has a palate and you can only have that at your age if you are well educated,” he said.

Jesús, 12 years old and from Calamocha (Teruel), opted for a menu that pays tribute to his country: as a starter, migas with low-heated egg, grilled grapes and a hint of garlic soups; the main course is a cod confit with braised trotter roll and pork and cod pilpil; and for dessert, cherry ravioli with white chocolate sauce and vanilla beans. “You have created a popular, traditional menu inspired by your country, your roots and the dishes you have eaten at home since childhood, giving it a modern twist and applying the techniques learned in MasterChef Junior. “A bold, risky and amazing menu,” praised Jordi Cruz. Loreto takes the baton from actress Laura Londoño, who won the eighth edition of the celebrity culinary competition organized by Shine Iberia a few weeks ago.

The final of the competition was watched by 1,074,000 viewers and a viewer share of 13.9%, the highest value of the edition. With these data, La 1 became the leader on the night of Wednesday January 3rd, far away from the rest of the private broadcasters' offerings. At one point, up to 3,287,000 people watched the MasterChef Junior 10 finale.
