Losing streak: a first for the Yankees since 1982

The New York Yankees hit a new low Tuesday night.

The Bronx Bombers suffered their ninth straight loss with a 2-1 loss to the Washington Nationals. It’s the first time in nearly 41 years that the Big Apple club has endured such a bad patch.

The last time was September 13-21, 1982. That season, the Yankees had just 79 wins.

In today’s matchup, manager Aaron Boone’s side fazed the game in the eighth inning. CJ Abrams hit a solo home run at the expense of shooter Tommy Kahnle.

With two bats later, the Yankees failed to score and were defeated. Also, they limited themselves to just two small shots in a safe spot throughout the game.

The New York club will look to break out of their torpor in the second of a three-game series against the “Nats” on Wednesday night.
