A 34-year-old American woman spent more than a month moving heaven and earth to find her small dog after the animal ran away during a walk in the heart of Central Park in New York City.
“From the donations, $6,000 will be used to reward anyone who brings Rosie back. But the bulk of the funds raised will help cover the $300-a-day cost of the dog researcher I immediately hired to find her,” Shira Meged, 34, told the New York Post on Monday .
So the 30-year-old's ordeal began on November 25, when the guardian of her mini Goldendoodle named Rosie told her that the dog had escaped to the heart of Central Park in New York City and that she was then going on a vacation cruise.
“I immediately went numb. My stomach sank. I was in the middle of the sea, completely helpless and out of control,” the American told the NY Post.
Without news of the puppy after ten days, the woman's relatives would have turned to the crowdfunding platform GoFundMe to raise money to cover the costs of an expensive dog detective who was hired to search for her 24 hours after the animal disappeared.
Currently, the woman has managed to collect more than 18,740 American dollars, which is equivalent to more than 25,000 Canadian dollars.
Luckily for her, the missing animal technician she hired, Jim Tierney, took his mission seriously.
“I have installed hunting cameras, feeding stations and ethical traps to recover lost dogs across the city,” he told American media.
Using treats tailored to his target, the man would attempt to attract the Goldendoodle, which would be located as soon as it appeared in front of one of the cameras; a method that would have already made it possible to find dozens of furry companions.
“I never give up. If they're out, I'll find them,” he insisted to the NY Post.
