Lottery winner returns to work after losing his fortune

A lottery winner who thought he’d never go back to work is back on his feet. Mark Gardiner, 61yearold Brit, won a jackpot of around R$67 million in 1995.

At that time, the British shared the money with Paul Maddison, a business partner at the time.

Twenty years later, Gardiner is back at work. The reasons? His divorce from his fourth wife and a series of bad things Investments that caused him to lose millions of pounds.

With part of his remaining savings, the Brit founded a small glass company where he works today. In addition to managing the business, he also takes care of mediation, appraisal and ordering.

Gardiner tells British newspaper The Sun what he would do if he won the lottery again. “If I had won the lottery now at 61, I would have done so many different things,” he said. “I would have stopped working … But taking charge of the business while my fortune dwindled also helped keep me grounded.”

Gardiner added: “I’m not worried about it, but if I take the day off today, I won’t be able to pay my team’s salary.”
