Louisville starting quarterback Malik Cunningham remains on concussion record and has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against Virginia, it has been announced.

Coach Scott Satterfield said this week that Cunningham had “concussion-like symptoms” after hitting Boston College last week. The school said he did not travel with the team to Saturday’s game.

Satterfield said Tuesday that Cunningham told team doctors he felt good after scoring the first but “felt a little different” after suffering a second hit later in the game before being drawn.

He started a school record 40 straight games for the Cardinals, a streak that lasts through September 2019.

Junior Brock Domann will make his first career start for the Cardinals. He has completed 6 of 16 passes for 92 yards and one interception in two appearances this season.

Cunningham missed the final two drives in Saturday’s 34-33 loss to Boston College. He went to the medical tent on the sidelines after being hit in the head.

The loss of Cunningham is another blow to Louisville, who are 0-3 in the ACC and 2-3 overall. Cunningham is one of the top dual threat quarterbacks in the country and a linchpin of the program.

Cunningham is ranked 21st by position on ESPN’s Top 50 NFL Draft Prospects and has 968 passing yards and 457 rushing yards for a total of 12 touchdowns this season. Last season he threw for 3,972 combined yards and 39 TDs.

Virginia goes into the game 2-0 in the ACC and 3-2 overall in Tony Elliott’s debut season.
