ITV2 will ban the islanders’ social media activities during the series and offer enhanced training on how to behave in relationships after a controversial summer series in 2022.

Now ITV will have said a comprehensive package of social measures for program contributors will remain in place to ensure the stars receive full support before, during and after filming.

As part of expanded measures to protect islanders and their families from the adverse effects of social media, contestants are asked to pause handles and accounts on their social media platforms for the duration of their time on the show.

The islanders’ accounts remain dormant while they are at the mansion, so nothing is published on their behalf.

In addition, before entering the villa, the islanders receive guidance and training on mutually respectful behavior in relationships.

Resource links are offered to participants to “educate themselves before meeting their fellow islanders to help them identify negative behaviors in relationships and to understand the behavioral patterns associated with controlling and coercive behaviors”.

ITV added that stars will continue to be offered video training and guidance on inclusive language relating to disability, sexuality, race and ethnicity and microaggression.
