He told TV Tonight that the series, which currently airs on 9Now, attracts “extroverts” to audition as cast members.
‘Anyone who has participated in even one dog food promotion can create an IMDB account!’ he said.
Mavrodakis added that Love Island was unscripted, with the exception of a few format points provided by presenter Sophie Monk.
“Every word comes from the mouths of islanders, never from writers,” he said.

The producer went on to slam the show’s critics.
“Feigning surprise that some reality TV contestants have had small parts in dramas, done extra work, or starred in a student film is like being shocked that a Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” The contestant once won a pub quiz,” he said.
Fans were originally introduced to Chipangura, 23, as a TikTok rapper and security guard.
Meanwhile, 23-year-old Bonifazio, from Adelaide, entered the Love Island mansion, who was described as a ‘medical secretary’.

It comes as the current season of Love Island Australia has already been branded ‘fake’ as the contestants who came out have already filmed the finale.
The hit reality show was taped with three alternate endings and different winners.
Only one will be shown on TV, meaning the finalists won’t know if they’ve won until they sit down to watch the show with the rest of Australia
Even sources within the show have said it may not go down well with audiences as it “takes away integrity while the cast is acting and the reactions aren’t genuine.”
Previous seasons of Love Island Australia were filmed and then edited within 24 hours, followed by a live finale where viewers vote for the winner.
