In July, Shaughna revealed she was in the hospital for a colposcopy after contracting HPV in May.

The STI is the most common worldwide and four out of five people will get some form of the virus at least once in their lives.

Back then, Shaughna updated her 1.5 million Instagram followers about her experience and urged women to book their swab tests.

She posted a photo of the infirmary and captioned it: “Sunday fun day? So I said I’d share my experience with you all and currently I’m pissing my pants.

“Still screaming for ladies to book their swabs!”

A colposcopy is used to check for abnormal cells in the cervix.

She then checked in with fans upon arriving home: “How did the colposcopy go? Chill out and feel sorry for yourself for the rest of the day.

“Although I had 3 nurses who were so nice and made me feel cared for. Still yelling for ladies to book your swabs when you’re overdue.

HPV stands for Human Papillomavirus, which the NHS describes as “a very common group of viruses”. While HPV doesn’t cause problems for most people, some types can cause genital warts or cancer.

There is no blood test for HPV and it is detected during a cervical screening.

“I received my results yesterday and there were changes in some cells called “borderline changes” that require further investigation. I also tested positive for HPV,” she previously told her followers.

She continued, “Obviously I was absolutely terrified at first, and while everyone I’ve spoken to has assured me how common this is, it’s still scary.”

Shaughna went on to say that she was “so glad” to share her swab test results because she was “terrified.”

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the name of a group of viruses that attack your skin and the moist membranes that line your body.

It is very commonly transmitted through vaginal, anal, and oral sex and skin-to-skin contact between the genitals.

Up to eight out of ten people will contract the virus at some point in their lives.

There are more than 100 types of HPV. About 30 of these can affect the genital area. Genital HPV infections are common and highly contagious.

Many people never show symptoms because they can appear years after infection, and most cases go away without treatment.

It can lead to genital warts and is also known to cause cervical cancer by creating abnormal tissue growth.

Annually, an average of 38,000 HPV-related cancers are diagnosed in the US, 3,100 cases of cervical cancer and about 2,000 other cancers in men in the UK.
