To help our readers deal with the impact of rising food prices, our new contributor Myriam Gendron, site creator, has among other things Just eatoffers a great value menu every week from the best grocery discounts of the week.

March 30 Grocery Discount at 5’o clock April 2023

We find ground beef the lowest in recent months, at $2.97/lb for the semi-lean at Walmart (it’s also $2.99/lb at Provigo) and $3.99/lb for the lean at Metro. Ditto for pork chops for $1.99/lb at Maxi and boneless chicken breast for $4.77 at Super C: it’s worth stocking the freezer if it’s protein you like. !

And with Easter just around the corner, let me remind you to think about your menu, whether it’s brunch, buffet or dinner. It’s the penultimate Flyer week before the event, and it’s always a good idea to start shopping for essential items (and bonuses when they’re on sale!) early.

So here are some groceries that might be worth stocking up on for the Easter weekend. Are you planning to cook a ham? The Smoked Picnic Pork Shoulder is available at an excellent price of $2.24/lb at IGA for Scène+ cardholders ($2.99/lb for others). Also at IGA will be the 300g pack of Frozen Smoked Atlantic Salmon for $10.99 or a 55% discount. If you’re a fan of brunch, quiche, omelets and pancakes, keep an eye out for these bargains: the 400g house-brand cheese is $3.99 at Metro and the pound of butter is $4.49 at Maxi (limited to 3 per customer). ). Finally, the dozen eggs is $2.22 for Scene+ members at IGA (limit of 4 per customer). At less than 20 cents each, this is the best possible price.

Good shit!

FEATURED THIS WEEK

MONDAY

MAPLE GINGER GLAZED PORK CHOPS
Recipe taken from Boost

GOOD TO KNOW !

If you’re looking to save time later that week, consider cooking 2-3 extra sweet potatoes (also diced): they’ll be used for both the meal bowls and salad at lunch.

TUESDAY

SWEDISH BEEFBALLS
Recipe taken from Boost

GOOD TO KNOW !

I suggest you serve it all on top of egg noodles and accompany the steamed broccoli. As a shortcut to the kefta meal, double the number of meatballs you cook, then it becomes a quick gathering meal. Don’t hesitate to use semi-lean ground beef (the cheapest this week): the excess fat should go into the baking sheet and at worst let’s drain the meatballs a little or wipe them!

WEDNESDAY

SHALOT CRUST FRIED FISH
Recipe taken from Boost

GOOD TO KNOW !

In addition to discounted fresh haddock at Super C, you can find an 8 oz pack of frozen whitefish (sole or haddock) for $4 at Metro all week long.

THURSDAY

VEGAN TOFU AND QUINOA bowls
Recipe taken from Boost

GOOD TO KNOW !

Here I suggest replacing the squash with the sweet potato, which has a similar sweet flavor and texture (if it’s already cooked, you can continue cooking the broccoli). In case you were wondering, squash is in short supply this winter in Quebec, as a disease devastated last fall’s crop. This week’s cheapest tofu is Metro: 400g blocks are $2!

FRIDAY

BEEF KEFTAS WITH MINT
Recipe taken from Boost

LUNCH

RAINBOW SALAD WITH QUINOA, ALMOND VINAIGRETTE
Recipe taken from Boost

GOOD TO KNOW !

If the quinoa and sweet potatoes are already cooked, the recipe will be ready very quickly. A salad is always a good vacuum fridge: do not hesitate to add vegetables to pass!

SNACK

APPLE BROWNIES
