LPGA: Maude-Aimée Leblanc stands out in California

Quebec’s Maude-Aimée Leblanc did well in the first round of the Palos Verdes Championship in California on Thursday, dealing a card of 69 (-2).

However, the 33-year-old athlete had started her tournament poorly, committing a bogey and a double-bogey on the first five holes against a single birdie. However, she stalled six birdies and two bogeys in the next 13 pennants. She is tied in 21st place, six strokes behind leader, Australia’s Minjee Lee.

The latter flew over the course of the Palos Verdes Golf Club and cleared eight birdies.

Leblanc also had the best performance of the day for the Canadians. Brooke M. Henderson struggled and couldn’t do better than a score of 75 (+4), earning her 121st place. Things were even worse for Maddie Szeryk and Megan Osland, who each delivered a 77 (+6) first card. They share 137th place.

PGA: Mexico appeals to many golfers

PGA golfers had a blast in the opening round of the Mexico Open in Vidanta, sunny Mexico, as six golfers turned in 64 (-7) to secure the top of the leaderboard.

Spaniard Jon Rahm and Americans Jonathan Byrd, Brendon Todd, Trey Mullinax, Bryson Nimmer and Kurt Kitayama pulled off seven shots from the par 71.

In addition to mutual caution, second round comers must also look behind them as four golfers are a little behind after 18 holes. Ten other participants hit the white object 66 (-5) times on the first day of activities.

Michael Gligic is the best Canadian after one round. He hit four par 71s and is tied in 21st place. Nick Taylor (70; -1) and Adam Svensson (71; E) were able to stay in midfield with places 61 and 78 respectively.

Roger Sloan (74; +3) and David Hearn (75; +4), on the other hand, will have their hands full if they are to dodge the ax after 36 holes and compete in the weekend rounds.
