LPHF: a narrow win for Montreal

After a 3-0 loss to Toronto on Friday, Montreal bounced back well to beat Minnesota 2-1 at Place Bell on Sunday.

The two teams played a close game. It was goalkeeper Elaine Chuli who stood in front of the Montreal goal and put in an impressive performance, stopping 21 of the 22 pucks she faced.

In the second period, Sarah Lefort gave her team the win by catching Madison Bizal's return shot. This success was also his first since the start of the campaign.

In the opening moments of the first period, Kori Cheverie's players took the lead when Claire Dalton deflected Kati Tabin's shot on the power play.

The Minnesota team's only response came at the end of the first period with a goal from Kendall Coyne Schofield.

Thanks to this win, Montreal returns to one small step behind Minnesota in the standings of the Professional Women's Hockey League. Marie-Philip Poulin's teammates are in second place with 20 points, while Schofield's teammates are in first place with 21 points.

Montreal plays New York at UBS Arena on Wednesday before hosting Ottawa at Auditorium de Verdun on Saturday.
