LPHF: Justin Trudeau in the locker room for Ottawa's loss

The Professional Women's Hockey League (LPHF) Ottawa team had a distinguished guest for Wednesday night's meeting: none other than Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The Liberal Party leader attended the game against Boston at TD Place, which ended in a 3-2 defeat for the local team. Just over 5,000 people attended the duel and Trudeau took the opportunity to shake hands and take photos.

Accompanied by his children Xavier and Ella, he also made his way to the locker room to give a short motivational speech. Captain Brianne Jenner gave him a number 24 jersey, no doubt a reference to the Prime Minister's official residence at 24 Sussex Drive.

“You fought hard and played hard, and like every game so far, you showed countless other women that they belong on the ice too. Keep making history and making us proud,” he wrote on social media after the game.

Justin Trudeau was joined by Sport and Physical Activity Minister Carla Qualtrough.
