Ludmilla performed several shows outside the country and entered into international partnerships. She recently took to social media to lament the lack of recognition for her work in Brazil. The outburst was motivated after she was nominated for the 2022 Bet Awards, one of the biggest awards for black artists in the world.
Funkeira said that despite an established career in the country, it is still common for her to face prejudice and her work to be devalued.
“In those 10 years I have cried and often wondered why I receive so little support from the country I love so much and have dedicated all these years to creating and sharing my art. But I’ve continued to do what I love and share love through my music. It would be amazing to have more support in Brazil, to vibrate more about my accomplishments without having to limit me because of attacks or people trying to discourage me or give up. It may appear that it does not hurt, is not felt, and does not affect this side. But it hurts a lot,” he wrote.
“What I’ve decided is, don’t you have any support? I go without support. Doesn’t that happen in Brazil? There are a lot of people out there who are interested in our culture and talent,” Funkeira continued. “Numanice is pumping on the streets, my shows are sold out and most importantly I like to lay**!” he added.
