Louis Iberian became the second Peruvian in the exotic Estonian league by signing a few weeks ago for Riga FC, a side that includes defender Gustavo Dulanto. After playing with Melgar from Arequipa in the Apertura tournament and in the group stage of the 2023 Copa Libertadores, the striker made the leap abroad at the age of 25 and became the only transfer (so far) from Peruvian football to Europe in the current passport market .
One of the unknowns in the departure of “Luiki” from Domino was the price it sold for. Recently, the Transfermarkt portal announced that the sum paid to the Latvian squad for his signing is higher than the attacker’s international market value.

How much did Riga FC pay for Luis Iberico?
According to the specialized transfer website, Riga FC paid 900,000 euros (more than 3.5 million soles) in exchange for taking over the services of Iberico, who had a contract with Melgar until the end of the year. The red and black box has not completely distanced itself from the footballer as he will keep a percentage of his passport which could benefit in a future sale to another team.

This operation was beneficial for the Mistianos as the price that Transfermarkt gives the player is slightly lower than what he finally received: 800,000 euros, the highest value of his career so far. If he manages to excel in football on the old continent (Riga FC will play in the Conference League), the price of the young forward’s card could increase significantly.

The contract between Luis Iberico and Riga FC is valid until the end of 2026. The man from Lima has already played two games in the Latvian First Division with his club, which he leads with 55 points in 22 matchdays.
