Lionel Messi’s record-breaking Ballon d’Or could be his last, but his former teammate and friend Luis Suarez doesn’t want it to end there and urged him to aim for more.
Messi won the Golden Ball for the eighth time in his career, beating Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and former Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.
His success at the World Cup for Argentina gave him an advantage, but that wasn’t all. His performances, which helped PSG win back-to-back French Ligue 1 championships, were overlooked by many.

“How great you are, fat! Now work hard to reach 9th place. Have fun because you deserve it so much,” he wrote.
Per Goal, Messi disagrees with his friend after confirming in his acceptance speech that he hasn’t thought about individual awards for some time and it will be his last.
“I stopped thinking about the Ballon d’Or. I think it’s my last Ballon d’Or. And I’m happy to have achieved everything I’ve achieved and to be the only player with eight Ballon d’Or. And that’s all,” he said.
