This Tuesday (1), Luisa Mell posted a lengthy outburst about her health on social media. On Sunday (30th), the animal rights activist was hospitalized after suffering a seizure. Luisa, who is 44, explained that on medical advice she will stay away from social media and animal rescuerelated activities.
“I’ve reached my limit, I don’t know when it all turned to hate. I’ve been fighting for animals for 20 years. And yes, to inspire compassion for the most vulnerable. I’m sorry if I failed. I have always given my best. Forgive my mistakes, I’ve done what I can but my body can’t take it anymore,” Mell began.

The activist said she had received hate mail since declaring her support for Presidentelect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) days before the second round of the presidential election. “They say I support this or that out of selfishness. Lie. Like almost everything they accuse me of. I am indeed an idiot. I have 48 employees at the institute. All with decent wages, with all labor rights up to date. But I get nothing. On the contrary, I give my soul. My time, my image and everything I can because I really wanted to make a difference in this world. I never won anything, neither from Lula nor from Bolsonaro,” he continued in the lengthy text.
Mell said he has to be away indefinitely to focus on his own health and apologized to the people he is unable to visit at the moment. “Sorry, but I’ll be gone indefinitely. The work of the institute continues. Thank you all. Forgive me, I’m not as strong as I thought. My doctor forced me to step aside for my health. Last Sunday (30), the activist said she suffered a seizure and was rushed to hospital. Dejected, Luisa took to her social media in a hospital bed and regretted not being able to vote. “I’m back in the hospital, I’ve had another seizure. I won’t even be able to choose today, but choose you guys out there! God willing, I’m fine. There are many people asking me for help but I can’t, sorry,” he wrote. In May she suffered her first seizure. At the time, he revealed that the root cause of the health problem was stress.

The attacks on Mell began after she posted a video on Instagram declaring that she would support Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the elections. The activist compared the environmental and animal welfare policies of the Lula and Jair Bolsonaro governments to voice her opinion. “How I hate injustice. And if I make a mistake, I’ll gladly admit it [por isso] I went to study exactly what was being done in both governments regarding the environment! Join us and draw your own conclusions. On Sunday we decide about the future of the country and our Amazon! We live in a democratic constitutional state. Everyone can and should make their own choice. But we have a duty to judge true facts. That’s why I made this video with real data. Please let’s be respectful. The election must not turn into a war,” he declared.
Later, after the official result of the presidential elections, Luisa released a video celebrating the victory of the presidentelect. Footage was taken from the hospital bed as she showed her 7yearold son Enzo at home, also celebrating the result. “Vaaaaaaa! Love won! Science won! Solidarity won! The Amazon won! Check out my 7 year old son’s emotions because he will have a future!” he wrote. After these publications, the influencer stated that she had received many hate messages.
