After the murder of 12-year-old Luise, investigators have called off the search for the murder weapon until further notice.

“Further searches are not planned at the moment,” senior public prosecutor Patrick Baron von Grotthuss of the Siegen public prosecutor’s office said on Monday. They’ve done everything humanly possible to find the murder weapon, and they see little chance of finding them.

Sniffer dogs and technical equipment were also used in the searches – all to no avail, he said. Consequently, searching is difficult because no exact location is known and the search area cannot be narrowed down.

Two girls, aged 12 and 13, confessed to stabbing 12-year-old Luise to death on March 11 in a wooded area on the border of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. With regard to protecting the privacy of the victim and underage suspects, investigators are very reluctant to provide information about the crime.
