Lukashenko and Xi want to expand cooperation

China and Belarus want to further strengthen their relations. The friendship between the two countries is “unbreakable”, said today the head of state and leader of the Chinese party, Xi Jinping, according to Chinese state television, at a meeting with Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko in Beijing. China is willing to work with Belarus “to promote the healthy and stable development of high-level bilateral relations,” Xi said.

Lukashenko also advocated more cooperation and effusively praised the Chinese president: “I firmly believe that China will continue to achieve new and brilliant successes under the strong leadership of President Xi Jinping.”

Ukraine: Belarus supports Beijing’s proposals

The visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ally comes just days after the presentation of the Chinese position paper on the war in Ukraine. It was met with international disappointment as it did not reveal any new initiatives to end the war. Instead, China is demonstrating its continued support for Putin.

According to Chinese information, Lukashenko supported the Beijing newspaper. Chinese state broadcaster CCTV quoted him as saying he “fully supports China’s proposals”.
