Lukoil boss Wagit Alekperov resigns

The head of Russian oil company Lukoil, Vagit Alekperov, has resigned. The group published a brief announcement on Thursday with information about the personnel, but gave no reason for the move. So Alekperov also leaves the supervisory board of the company he founded. Lukoil is number two in the Russian oil market.

In early March, Alekperov’s oil company called for an immediate end to the military operation in Ukraine. “We are committed to an immediate end to the armed conflict and fully support its resolution through the negotiation process and diplomatic means,” he said in a March 3 statement.
