With local elections in the upcoming calendar, the Chief Minister of the Secretariat of Social Communications, Paulo Pimenta, declared after a ministerial meeting that 2023 is “a year of introductions and the next year of deliveries”. “
He noted that in 2024 the country will chair the G20, a group that brings together the world's 20 largest economies, and “we have an important agenda, but the president wants to put his foot on the street, what He really likes doing it.”
Pimienta insisted that Lula wants to track the deliveries and closely monitor what is being done.
He encouraged, he continued, “ministers to step up agendas in the states, not just in the capitals but also in the interior.”
The newspaper O Tempo assures that the President intends to devote the second half of next year to providing programs and works outside of the local election period.
«A calendar is being created. The goal is for the president to be present in all 27 states by the first half of next year. Also because we have local elections and it is more difficult (in the second half of the year) to set a municipal implementation agenda,” said Civil House Minister Rui Costa.
The newspaper reported that Lula devoted himself to diplomatic affairs this year, making 15 international trips covering 24 countries on four continents, excluding Oceania. He was outside the national territory for 62 days.
His work abroad was intensive and was only interrupted by severe hip pain, which required surgery at the end of September.
After the medical break, he fulfilled his goals in the countries of the Persian Gulf and Germany.
As part of its renewed international presence, Brazil assumed the interim presidency of the G20 on December 1. The mandate lasts one year (it ends on November 30, 2024).
It is the first time in the group's history that the South American giant has occupied this position in the current format.
Under his leadership, Brazil will organize more than 100 working group meetings, held virtually and in person, as well as nearly 20 ministerial meetings, culminating with the Summit of Heads of Government and State in Rio de Janeiro on November 18-19, 2024.
He also handed over interim leadership of the Common Southern Market (Mercosur) to Paraguay on December 7th.
