The President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), this Saturday (20) Sunday morning, local time visited the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima, Japan.

Lula traveled to Japan to attend the G7 summit as a guest. The presence of the Brazilian President marked Brazil’s return after 14 years to the meeting of the group bringing together the world’s seven most industrialized economies (Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom).

Lula’s visit to Peace Memorial Park coincided with other heads of state and their spouses.

During the ceremony at Peace Memorial Park, officials will lay flowers in honor of the victims of the Hiroshima atomic bomb. The nuclear attack took place on August 6, 1945.

Other Obligations

In addition to the visit to the Peace Memorial Park, the Brazilian President’s agenda for this Sunday (21) includes meetings with international authorities, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi and United Nations SecretaryGeneral António Guterres.
