In the region known as ABC Paulista, where he was a union leader in the 1970s, Lula defended Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who was attacked by radical supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro at an Italian airport on July 14.
“Bolsonaro suffered defeat (in the elections), but the madmen are on the streets, we must teach respect and courtesy,” the blackmailer warned.
According to journalistic media, Andreia Mantovani, wife of businessman Roberto Mantovani, approached De Moraes last Friday at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, just as he was giving a lecture at the International Law Forum of the University of Siena.
The woman, a self-confessed supporter of Bolsonaro, harassed the minister over his handling of conflicting matters involving the far-right politician.
Taking the publications into account, he confronted the judge to the shouts of “bandit, communist and sellout”.
At that moment, an altercation broke out between the businessman, his wife and the couple’s son-in-law, Alex Zanatta Bignotto.
The couple later denied to federal police that they assaulted the judge and, according to the defense, only admitted that they urged the judge’s son to defend his wife, who was allegedly the victim of insults by the boy.
“At no time was there any crime, let alone threats, against Minister Alexandre, who happened to be affected in this unfortunate episode.” Nevertheless, they apologize for the misunderstanding that has occurred and express their respect for the authorities, which also extends to their relatives,” the couple said in a statement.
In addition to insulting De Moraes and his family, one of the individuals even physically assaulted the minister’s son.
Among his management’s priorities, Lula’s speech this Sunday also reiterated the return of the working class to consumer power and essential guarantees such as employment and quality wages.
“The fact that the Brazilian working class elected a factory worker President of the Republic is a historic change. Because it is the workers who are building this country,” recalled the former trade unionist.
He also emphasized his commitment to the reconstruction of Brazil. “I promise in simple words that we will guarantee jobs so that Brazilians can live with dignity,” he remarked.
