Lula’s interview with GloboNews this Wednesday (18) saw the channel’s viewership outperform its competitors by 96%. Some 223,000 people who have cable TV followed the President’s conversation with journalist Natuza Nery on the news program Edições as 18h, according to Kantar Ibope earlier. The information comes from Mônica Bergamo’s column in Folha de S.Paulo.
The number gave GloboNews a 96% higher audience than the sum of CNN Brasil, Jovem Pan, Band News and Record News. The interview took place at the Planalto Palace and was the first that the PT gave to a TV station after its election.
The main topic of the interview was the terrorist attack on the Praça dos Três Poderes on January 8th. Lula stated that the federal government’s intelligence system “didn’t exist” during the episode and was critical of the armed forces. The president also said he had the “impression” that it would be a coup d’etat and that Jair Bolsonaro was directing the coup plotters.
