Luz Campoverde was the heroine of university in the final of the women’s league against Alianza Lima. The top scorer made it 2-0 and sealed her team’s victory, a result which, as she recalled, gave her the opportunity for personal revenge. “Last year I came second. Now it was my revenge, I had to take the trophy home. This year I had to lift the trophy, it was done and I hope to keep lifting it for much longer,” said the Native player at the end of the game.
The student team striker was runner-up in the 2022 season together with Carlos A. Mannucci. After her excellent season with the Trujillo team, she was signed by the “U” and became a key figure for coach John Tierradentro, who detailed his strategy for this final.
“The teacher planned it that way, it was the strategy: save the first half and kill it in the second. The result came and the championship came,” the striker added.
