The accident occurred during a trip to a sporting event at the Autódromo de Tocancipá. Just before 2 p.m. local time, spectators at the 2023 Ford Motorcraft season finale heard a loud noise, according to El Colombiano.
A gust of wind hit a support and a huge screen came loose. A video posted on social media shows the moment the device fell and hit people in the VIP stands. Some managed to escape in time and save themselves. Luz Piedad Eusse would have stayed there with her daughters (six and eight years old), reports El Espectador. Five people were injured in the accident, including one of Eusse’s daughters.
According to the broadcaster Noticias RCN, the Cundinamarca Public Ministry opened an investigation into the accident. A co-worker described Eusse’s death in X as an “absurd accident.” The Tocancipá Racetrack was “a happy place” for the presenter.
