MacBook Air 15 is coming soon, production is already in full swing – Frandroid

One of Apple’s prime contractors for MacBook assembly would gradually move from the shelf stage to new mass production. Given the timing, the news is likely to relate to the upcoming 15-inch MacBook Air, which is expected this summer.

You may not know Quanta Computer, but the activities of this Apple subcontractor, specialized in the assembly of portable computers, are closely watched by analysts for a simple and good reason: it should logically take care of the production next 15-inch MacBook Air. So when Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring reports that Quanta is ramping up production, everyone listens intently.

In a statement published on May 19, the prospect points out that the Taiwanese group had forecast high growth in assembled laptops for the second quarter compared to the first quarter of 2023. This announcement is anything but trivial: this renewed activity suggests that the MacBook Air 15 would gradually enter the mass production phase.

The MacBook Air 15? It would be very soon…

In other words, the trace of a presentation of the device during the WWDC next June 5th is becoming more and more tangible. In that case, the device could be launched quickly after its announcement… like last year’s MacBook Air M2.

A prediction made all the more realistic as Mark Gurman recently confirmed that a 15-inch MacBook Air is in the pipeline for WWDC 2023.

“As part of watchOS 10, Apple plans to bring back widgets and make them a central part of the user interface. “This new strategy will debut at WWDC in June, along with the unveiling of iOS 17, macOS 14, the 15-inch MacBook Air, and of course the much-anticipated Mixed Reality Headset,” the reporter told Bloomberg, often very aware of what Apple is loose.

For his part, Ming-Chi Kuo, another well-informed analyst at TF International, had predicted that the device would be happy with an Apple M2 chip, like its little brother. It should also adopt more or less the same design, but with a simply larger screen.

As a reminder, the current MacBook Air M2 is limited to a 13.6-inch diagonal and comes with a 1080p webcam, MagSafe power connector, two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a fingerprint reader; All at a starting price set in France of 1499 euros. It’s currently unknown what the MacBook Air 15’s launch price would be, and if the device would leverage its size to offer a more generous port selection. Respond in a little less than a month (logically).
