The current President of France, Emmanuel Macronextended his lead over the farright candidate, Marine LePen, in the latest polls released this Tuesday the 19th. The Ipsos Institute pointed out that Macron will win with 56.5% of the valid votes 0.5% more than in the last poll published on Friday 15th. Opinionway already confirms that the French government will again be led by Macron for the next five years with 56% of voters’ preference 2 percentage points above the last poll, also released on Friday. As the decision is due to take place on Sunday 24th, both will have the final election debate tomorrow.

At a meeting with constituents, Marine said he would prepare for the clash at his home “as I do for all debates”. Macron, on the other hand, used the beginning of the week to give interviews to local radio and to compare France’s future with historical events in other countries. For the politician, the high abstention rate indicated by the polls is a worrying scenario that could tip the election in favor of the extreme right. “Think about what British citizens were saying a few hours before Brexit US before the vote in (Donald) Trump card: ‘I will not participate, what’s the point?’ I can say they regretted it the next day,” the representative said.
