Speaking at the high-level dialogue on the second and final day of the forum, the host President at the Palais de la Bourse in Paris summarized the path that has been started, leading to new instruments and methods and more money in the global financial architecture and reforms in its institutions.
According to Macron, a first element to be achieved is that no country is forced to choose between reducing poverty and inequalities and tackling climate change and its consequences.
We must do it at the same time, he stressed at the summit, which was attended by a hundred heads of state and government from five continents.
The French President stressed that other common criteria are the coexistence of different models between nations while respecting sovereignty and the urgency of a greater contribution from the private sector.
He also welcomed the fact that the new consensus is being built by all countries, from the poorest and most vulnerable to middle-income, emerging and wealthy.
Regarding the reform of financial institutions such as the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), he acknowledged the general call for them to be reshaped in terms of governance and adaptation to the current world, recalling that when they came into being In many states they did not exist.
In this context, he mentioned the need for a new roadmap for the World Bank and IMF and for changes leading to a more equitable and representative system.
According to Macron, the summit for a new world financial pact laid the foundation for work in multilateral forums in the coming months.
