Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff Madame Web.

The SJ Clarkson feature film is part of the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters and is scheduled to hit theaters on February 14, 2024, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Dakota Johnson plays the title role, based on Marvel Comics character Cassandra Webb, a psychic mutant who can foresee the future of spider-themed heroes.

Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts and Adam Scott round out the cast.

The trailer was released on Wednesday and shows Johnson having mysterious encounters with a man from her mother’s past. “I had visions,” she says in the footage. “If you want to live, you have to trust me.”

Clarkson (“Anatomy of a Scandal”) directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Claire Parker; the story was written by Kerem Sanga. Lorenzo di Bonaventura serves as producer, while Parker and Adam Merims serve as executive producers.

Other Spider-Man spin-offs in the pipeline for Sony include Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role of Kraven the Hunter, which will be released in August 2024, while the third film in the Venom series, starring Tom Hardy, will be released in August 2024 the lead role is scheduled for November next year. Last year, the studio released Morbius, which starred Jared Leto, Matt Smith and Adria Arjona as Marvel Comics characters.

During a previous interview with , Sweeney teased her role in Madame Web by saying that she “liked the personal struggles that the character goes through.” In another conversation with THR, the Emmy-nominated actress called working on Madame Web “an absolute career highlight.”

Johnson made her breakthrough role in the “Fifty Shades of Gray” series, and her recent films include “Bad Times at the El Royale,” “Cha Cha Real Smooth,” and “Persuasion.” Sweeney is known for television series such as “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus,” as well as film work such as “Reality” and the upcoming Sony romantic comedy “Anyone But You.”
