It needs a solution,” Johansson said in an interview with British newspaper The Mirror. The investigator also reiterated that Julia needs care.
“Now she is with her father and I will continue to speak to her. I think she needs protection. Her mother is like poison and could easily have done the DNA test. The parents could have calmed her down. The mother knew her daughter had mental disorders,” he added. Julia’s mother refused a DNA test and claims that the young woman is her biological daughter. Relatives also said she refuses to take medication to treat her ailments.
Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, broke their silence years after the DNA test result, but just to say that “there is nothing to report at this time. If there is one, it will be from the Metropolitan Police.” Investigator Fia Johansson stresses that Julia’s claim helped bring the missing girl’s case back to light. “If Julia hadn’t done things the way she did, there would be no interest in Madeleine’s case. Next time it might be Madeleine,” he told The Mirror.
