Madeleine McCann’s parents react to DNA test of woman who claims she’s missing British girl – Fox News

Madeleine McCann’s parents have issued a statement after a Polish woman who claims to be the missing British girl received the results of a DNA test which appear to prove she is not.

Poland’s Julia Faustyna, also known as Julia Wendlet, had claimed for weeks on Instagram and TikTok she could be McCann, who disappeared aged 3, but DNA test results appear to show she’s not British at all.

“There is nothing to report at the moment. If and when there is, it will come from the Metropolitan Police,” a spokesman for the family told the New York Post.

Faustyna amassed tens of thousands of followers on her Instagram account @iammadeleineccann – many of whom have criticized her claims. She and Fia Johansson, a psychic social media star who offered to fill in for Faustyna as her spokesperson, even appeared together on Dr. Phil up, but Johansson says it was never about internet fame.

“The test results showed that it is 100% in the heart of Poland, with negligible influence from Lithuania and Russia,” Johansson said in a statement released on Instagram on Tuesday. “The DNA test results showed no connection to British or even German roots.”

“She really believed what she said, and with so many questions about her childhood, it’s easy to understand where she came from,” Johansson continued.

BRITISH GIRL MADELEINE MCCANN IS STILL MISSING AFTER 15 YEARS

Faustyna’s account started posting photos in February. The Pole said she has a spot on her right eye and a beauty mark on her cheek similar to McCann’s. She also claimed details of her childhood didn’t add up, leading her to believe she was kidnapped as a toddler.

Faustyna has apparently been reunited with her father according to the DNA test results, according to Johansson, and McCann is still missing.

The missing girl’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, were on vacation in Praia da Luz, Portugal, with their three children – Madeleine and twins Sean and Amelie – when Madeleine was dragged from her bed on May 3, 2007. The family stayed in a ground floor apartment.

“Due to an active police investigation, Gerry and Kate are not making statements or giving interviews unless requested by the Metropolitan Police,” a spokesman for the Official Find Madeleine Campaign previously told Fox News Digital in a statement.

The Metropolitan Police of London told Fox News Digital that they had no new comment on the investigation.

In 2020, German police named convicted child molester and drug dealer Christian Brückner, 45, as a suspect in the 3-year-old’s disappearance, although Brückner, a German national, continues to deny any involvement in the case.

Brueckner is currently serving time in a German prison for drug-related offences. He also has a seven-year sentence pending in connection with the 2005 rape of a 72-year-old American woman in Praia da Luz.
