Anton was 66 years old. In 2011 he said: «My sister and I have never loved each other. My father would be happy if I died of hypothermia.”

Anthony Ciccone, Madonna’s older brother, died on Friday at the age of 66. Announcing the disappearance was musician Joe Henry, husband of Melanie Ciccone, one of the pop star’s sisters.

Anthony struggled with alcoholism and drug addiction, which resulted in him living under a bridge in Traverse City, Michigan for several years. An extreme situation that alienated him from his family until 2017, when he returned home after a long rehabilitation process (which he initially disagreed: “My family thinks rehabilitation is a kind of magic”).

Anthony Ciccone had publicly attacked Madonna and the rest of the family several times for not helping him through his dark years. “I’m a zero in their eyes, I’m just a source of embarrassment. I almost froze to death, but my family didn’t care for months – he said in 2011, as reported by the Chron. My father would be happy if I died of hypothermia so he wouldn’t have to worry about me anymore. Madonna? I never loved her and she never loved me.”

One of the pop star’s seven brothers (along with Mario, Melanie, Christopher, Paula, Jennifer and Martin), Anthony, son of Tony Ciccone and Madonna Louise Ciccone who died of breast cancer in 1963 at the age of 33, had had at the family winery Ciccone Vineyard worked before being fired and made homeless.

“Why is my sister a millionaire and I live on the streets? It can happen to anyone, never say never. According to the Chron, the pop star knew of his brother’s situation and would have offered to help him, an offer rejected by Anthony Ciccone: ‘I don’t want them to give me handouts because I’m Madonna’s brother, I’m not looking for advertising”.

In 2013, he was also arrested for trespassing and suffered a deep head wound after a fight with a police officer.
