  • Madonna was once grounded after a “scandalous” performance on her middle school talent show.

  • That’s what her younger brother Christopher Ciccone says.

  • “As far as my father is concerned, she might as well be naked,” Ciccone recalls in a new book.

According to her younger brother Christopher Ciccone, Madonna was once grounded by her father after a “scandalous” performance on her middle school talent show.

Speaking to author Mary Gabriel for a newly released biography of Madonna, “Madonna: A Rebel Life,” Ciccone said the incident occurred during Madonna’s senior year at West Junior High School in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

Ciccone says his sister and her friend left a stage covered head to toe in fluorescent body paint and lit by strobe lights before dancing to “Baba O’Riley,” The Who’s 1971 hit.

“She’s wearing shorts and a top that are also covered in paint, but to my father she might as well be naked,” Ciccone recalls in the biography.

“According to his strict moral code, her appearance is completely irrelevant and he puts his camera away in horror,” he adds.

Ciccone says the audience was “stunned” and that Madonna’s performance was “the most scandalous performance anyone in this conservative community has ever seen.”

The star’s brother adds that when they got home, their father took them aside and reprimanded them. She was grounded for two weeks, he says.

“When she finally shows up, her face is covered in tears. Her performance will never be mentioned again,” says Ciccone.

According to the biography, Madonna’s middle school talent show wasn’t the only time she got into trouble during her formative years.

In the book, Madonna’s college friend Linda Alaniz says the “Material Girl” singer got into trouble during their time together at the University of Michigan, where they were both studying dance.

“One time our Afro dance teacher asked for dancers to perform in a church,” Alaniz recalls in “Madonna: A Rebel Life.”

She continues: “During our rehearsal, the first thing Madonna does is go to the pulpit, grab the microphone and start singing at the top of her lungs.”

Alaniz says Madonna’s performance left her and the other students laughing, but her teacher was anything but happy.

“The teacher immediately said, ‘Get down there right now, this is sacrilege,'” Alaniz recalls the teacher saying. “She loved being the center of attention.”
