Maduro rejects US decision to seize Venezuelan company Citgo

Nicholas Maduro

247 Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Monday rejected the US government’s decision to hand over Citgo, a subsidiary of state oil company PDVSA, to an opposition sector, calling the resolution a “brazen theft”.

“We indignantly reject and reject the theft of the Citgo company by the United States government and the Venezuelan Single Platform,” said Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who described the decision at the international conference held in Bogotá as a sneer and a slap in the face . . .

“Today the US government issued a resolution handing over the Venezuelan company Citgo to some opposition Venezuelan Unitary Platform people (…) An undignified resolution that is a direct message of surrender. They have decided to hand over Citgo to a group of unknown,” he explained during the International Workers’ Day march.

The president stressed that the USbased Citgo Petroleum Corporation delivered this resolution to the “board of the last national assembly that no longer exists in Venezuela, people that none of us who live abroad know.”

PROCEED TO RECOMMENDATIONS

“The United States government has decided to hand over Citgo to sell and do as they please,” he said.

He also referred to the international conference on Venezuela that took place on April 25 in the Colombian capital of Bogotá and recalled that the representatives of the participating countries had called for the lifting of the coercive measures against the South American country.

The head of state, speaking on behalf of the entire Venezuelan people, expressed his disgust and rejection of the theft of the Citgo company by the United States government and the Venezuelan Single Platform.

He pointed out that the Citgo company is valued at more than $8 billion and has more than 10,000 gas stations in the US without bringing profits to the country from the hijacking of Donald Trump,” he said.

In addition, he pointed out that the US government took this reprehensible decision against the people and sovereignty of Venezuela. “It is the fight we must fight for the truth. Accomplices, all this opposition is complicit in the looting and theft of Venezuelan property,” he said.
