Caracas.- The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, will deliver his commemorative message and report on the political, economic, social and administrative aspects of his 2022 term to the National Assembly (AN) today.

With this move, the head of state complies with article 237 of the constitution, which stipulates that the president of the republic will go to parliament within 10 days of his inauguration.

The legislature began its sessions on January 5, when the 277 MPs elected the new governing body for the 2023-2024 session.

By a clear majority, MPs elected MP Jorge Rodríguez as their president and Pedro Infante and young América Pérez as first and second vice-presidents, both representatives of the pro-government Bloque de la Patria.

In his inaugural speech, Rodríguez recalled what the South American country had experienced in the face of the barrage of hatred and aggressive actions that the right wing was trying to implement as an anti-people agenda, which he said was no small matter.

In this sense, he lashed out at those who had campaigned for five years (2015-2020) to brutally call for sanctions, attacks, blockades and anything that caused pain and suffering to Venezuela.

In your account at Twittercongratulated Maduro on the new parliamentary leadership and wished that 2023-2024 be “prosperous and blessed for our country”.

The head of the legislature said days ago that in the new period parliament will give priority to the laws of people’s power and to supporting the executive in the country’s economic recovery.

The Legislature’s Advisory Committee this week unanimously approved the legislative agenda for the current year, which includes the billing of 22 bills for the benefit of the Venezuelan people.

Rodríguez explained that the commissions will work as a bloc, in accordance with their powers, to deal with each of the five axes: economic laws; Public Services and the Right to the City; and empowering organized people.

It also takes into account the laws that promote human, social and environmental development; and the judicial revolution.
