MAFS brides ‘don’t have enough Instagram followers to quit their jobs’

MAFS brides’ influencer dreams are shattered when they leave the show ‘without enough Instagram followers to quit their day jobs’ – and even Evelyn Ellis is falling behind

Married At First Sight’s glamorous brides may not jump straight into influencer careers after wrapping up last season.

This year’s cast struggled to garner enough Instagram followers to quit their day jobs, reports Yahoo Lifestyle.

The women may have signed up hoping to become rich and famous on social media, but they have been humbled by their lack of overnight success.

While previous seasons have seen the number of brides hit half a million followers during the show, the new brides haven’t garnered the same attention in the eight weeks since season ten premiered.

Claire Nomarhas’ fan base has grown from 2,800 to 66,600, while Melinda Willis – who was already an influencer prior to the show – has grown her audience from 150,000 to 202,000 followers.

Intruder bride Evelyn Ellis has doubled her fan base from 65,000 to 122,000, which is impressive but far from the heights of Martha Kalifatidis, Domenica Calarco or Ella Ding.

Other stars have had moderate success building their social media brands.

Bronte Schofield, for example, only gained 49,000 new followers while Tahnee Cook added about 38,000.

Considering that MAFS draws up to two million viewers per episode, that growth is pretty mind-blowing.

Melissa Sheppard gained 15,400 new followers, and Tayla Winter saw an even more modest growth of 10,400 followers.

“Nowadays you can’t quit your job with less than 300,000 followers and even then they have to be super engaged,” a source said.

‘The market is more saturated than ever.’

The social media expansion of this year’s brides pales in comparison to last season’s Dom and Ella, who left the show with a whopping 500,000 followers each.

With Season 10 just beginning to air in the UK, Brides’ accounts could continue to grow in the coming weeks.

Married At First Sight continues Monday at 7:30 p.m. on Channel Nine and 9Now
