MAGA truck convoy called 'Army of God' heads to southern border as experts warn border crisis likely to get worse after record 302,000 migrants enter US

A massive MAGA truck convoy called the Army of God is heading to the southern border as experts raise alarm about the border crisis after a record 302,000 migrants crossed into the US.

The massive convoy of truck drivers is heading to three migrant hotspots in three states in a bid to pressure the White House to address the worsening crisis.

Hundreds — possibly thousands — of big rigs plan to head to Eagle Pass, Texas, Yuma, Arizona and San Ysidro, California, starting Jan. 29 for the four-day “Take Back Our Border” event.

They hope the eye-catching, all-American protest will draw further attention to the record-breaking number of migrants crossing the southern border into the U.S. and that several cities are now buckling under the weight of efforts to care for them.

In October, President Joe Biden requested emergency funding and called on Congress to provide more border agents, officers and deportation flights.

Last week he promised to close the border if the bill passes.

Congressman Keith Self, a Republican representative from Texas, said: “Once again, the truckers stand for We the People.”

“The time to take action and secure our borders is NOW!”

The development is the latest in an increasingly heated and chaotic political dispute over whether Texas can ignore or supplant the federal government – as Gov. Greg Abbott accuses the Biden administration of not doing enough to stem the flow of illegal immigrants into the Lone Star State .

Although the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Biden administration on Monday that border patrol agents can cut the barbed wire installed at the border (placed there by Texas) if they deem it necessary, Texas is doubling down.

The state has erected more wire fences and is refusing to give up control of an Eagle Pass park it took control of on Jan. 10.

However, there is still a golf course in the park where locals can enjoy this most distinguished pastime – while government-employed border guards are barred from it.

Officials have given the state a Jan. 26 deadline to allow Border Patrol agents banned from the park access to Shelby Park.

San Antonio Congressman Joaquin Castro called Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday.

“Governor Greg Abbott is deploying the Texas National Guard to blockade the border and cause chaos.” “If Abbott defies yesterday's Supreme Court ruling, @POTUS must now establish sole federal control of the Texas National Guard,” Castro posted on-line.

Texas, where 25 Republican state governors have released letters supporting Abbott, has plenty of support.

“I think the limit has now reached a boiling point and you're now seeing governors getting involved,” Self told Fox Business News.

“A convoy of truckers is coming to the border.” “The American people must get involved.”

The group behind the convoy is calling on all peaceful Americans to participate starting Monday.

“These people are committed to a peaceful demonstration that we have had enough – the American people have had enough.” “We demand the Biden administration do its job, enforce current laws and secure our border.”

In 2022-23, there were a record 2.48 million border incursions along the southern border – and many more crossers who entered the United States undetected.

An all-time high of 269,735 interceptions was recorded in September 2023. Migrants intercepted by border guards can apply for asylum.

They are typically released to the United States while they wait for their case to go to trial.
