New York International Airport, John F. Kennedy welcomed a private plane this Saturday, September 16th. It is the impressive Airbus A340-500 of the Algerian presidency, which is transporting the head of state Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The landing of the presidential plane from Houari Boumediene airport in Algiers on one of the runways of the New York airport was filmed by plane spotters who were on the lookout for any incoming aircraft.

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, traveled this Saturday to New York in the United States to take part in the work of the 78th ordinary session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

As the aircraft began its final approach, observers commenting on the landings quickly realized that this was an aircraft they were not used to at this airport.

“It’s an Algerian plane. It is the Algerian government’s plane. Look at that ! » they exclaim as they read the sign (People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria) written in large letters on the fuselage of the plane.

The captain of the impressive aircraft, registration 7T-VPR, continued his approach to landing, landing gently on the runway at 3:13 p.m. (New York time).

Some technical characteristics of the Airbus A340-500

According to the manufacturer Airbus, the A340-500 is an aircraft “that combines performance, comfort and range for very efficient ultra-long-haul operations”. It is “very much appreciated by passengers and airlines”.

The range of this large, twin-aisle, four-engine aircraft, capable of reaching 9,000 nautical miles, allows it to operate some of the longest non-stop routes in the world, such as the Algiers – New York route.

The Airbus A340-500 has a total length of 67.93 m with a (geometric) wingspan of 63.45 m. The length of the aircraft cabin is 53.56 m with a maximum width of 5.28 m. The fuselage width is 5.64 m and the height 17.53 m.

It also features an optimized fuselage section of 222 inches (approximately 5 meters), providing airlines operating it with the cabin versatility required to meet different market requirements.
