According to the United States Geological Survey, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake was recorded this Wednesday in western Afghanistan, 28 kilometers from the city of Herat.

After last Saturday’s devastating earthquakes, which killed more than 2,400 people, at least 50 people were injured by the quake.
Seismologists believe the Oct. 11 earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers and triggered a magnitude 5.0 aftershock in the same area.

Last week, this area was the center of a strong 6.3 magnitude earthquake, which was followed by other strong aftershocks.
At the time, the death toll topped 2,000, making this natural disaster one of the deadliest to hit the country in the past two decades.
