America's first couple, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, continue to be the number one topic of conversation across the country. For best evidence, check out the YouTube pages of every major late-night talk show (Fallon, Kimmel, Meyers): In the last few months, virtually every other guest has found a way to bring up Swift, no matter what the topic is about her Interview, because both she and the late-night shows are aware that the pop star's name gets clicks in any context.
However, Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has good reason to talk about Swift. And that's exactly what he did on CBS' “Talk of the Table” Friday morning when host Nate Burleson asked him how the NFL team handled Swift and Kelce's highly publicized courtship.
Long before Swift and Kelce became inseparable, Kelce and Mahomes were close work friends. Now Swift and Mahomes' wife Brittany Mahomes are getting closer.
“Did you address the elephant in the room at the beginning?” Burleson asked Mahomes, referring to Swift.
“At first I feel like everyone stayed away and just let him do what he did,” Mahomes responded.
“And then he started bringing Taylor around and you realize what a cool person she was and is,” Mahomes continued. “So for us – I mean, in the beginning there were a few jokes here and there – but now she's just a part of Chiefs Kingdom and part of the team.”
“So for me it's just Travis, man, and he's lucky enough to be with an amazing girl – and an amazing woman – and it was cool to kind of interact with her and see her, because she's top notch her craft and see how she drives and will,” Mahomes said. “I saw this firsthand through Brittany and Travis' eyes…I think that's why she and Travis are such a good match.”
