The food service at Accueil Bonneau will be maintained thanks to the emergency aid, the Minister responsible for Social Services, Lionel Carmant, announced on Wednesday.
“It is important that we maintain the gastronomy at Accueil Bonneau for the benefit of the citizens. For this reason, the CIUSSS Center-Sud and my team have been working with the organization for several weeks to find solutions to its financial challenges,” explained Lionel Carmant on X (formerly Twitter) after a meeting with the Director General. by Accueil Bonneau, Fiona Crossling.

The minister added that services need to be improved so that they are offered 24 hours a day, like several other resources.
“It is a fundamental element if we are to provide the best services possible and help homeless people get off the streets. “Discussions are ongoing to find a permanent solution to Accueil Bonneau’s financing challenges,” he concluded.
Recall that on December 23, the organization announced that due to its financial difficulties, it may be forced to discontinue its lunch window services offered on weekends. Accueil Bonneau even threatened to shut down its food service in February if the government didn't increase its subsidies.
“Our government is mobilized to ensure the continuation of the mission of the organization, a real institution in Montreal,” emphasized the Minister in charge of Social Solidarity and Community Action, Chantal Rouleau, sharing the news announced by Lionel Carmant.
