Maison Lavande completes its installation in a new $16 million complex

Perfume house Maison Lavande’s new $16 million factory will allow it to maintain control of all its operations and increase productivity by hiring more clients as subcontractors.

Since last spring, Maison Lavande has moved into the premises of its new factory, La Fabrique des Filles, in the Saint-Eustache industrial park. “The commissioning of the bespoke equipment for the design and packaging of the perfumery products has just been completed,” explains Nancie Ferron, co-owner and vice-president of Maison Lavande.

“We had customized packaging machines. It takes a long time to master, it requires a lot of trial and error and it requires a lot of customization on the part of the team, but after this familiarization period we are ready to open up to other clients. ” She explains.

Made from his plants

Most of Maison Lavande’s beauty and household cleaning products made at the new factory are made from the 100,000 lavender plants growing in the fields 7 km away. The company also manufactures products for other companies, accounting for 20% of its production.

“There are not many laboratories of our size and they are in high demand. The others are very large and accept contracts with a minimum of products to be manufactured or even very small quantities,” explains Nancie Ferron.

The new 64,000-square-foot factory, built at a cost of $16 million, now houses the company’s administrative offices, laboratory, manufacturing and product packaging areas, and online store.

The sleek building, lit by large windows, equipped with a huge central coffee bar and a cactus garden, was designed by architect Jean-François Dupuis and interior designer Marie-Eve Issa to make it comfortable for the forty employees, most of whom are women, explains Nancie Ferron.

“Everywhere there are windows overlooking the surrounding fields, even in the warehouses. For people who are used to working in factories, it changes their lives,” says the entrepreneur happily.

Established in 2009

Since Maison Lavande was founded in 2009 by Nancie Ferron and her husband Daniel Joannette, now Vice President and President, their dream of creating a great perfume house has come true. Their two daughters, Marjolaine and Florence, who have been with the company for ten years, became shareholders in 2020. Marjolaine was brand manager and vice president of communications and Florence was general manager of the two companies.

Maison Lavande’s products are not only sold online and on the farm, but are also available in six stores: in Laval, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières, Saint-Bruno, Chicoutimi and Quebec City. “Opening a boutique in Montreal could be one of our next projects,” says Nancie Ferron.
