The singer Rita de Cássia, the greatest composer of Brazilian forró, dies
On Tuesday night (03), the singer from Ceará Rita de Cássia, who is considered the greatest forró composer in the history of Brazil, died at the age of 49.
She was hospitalized in an intensive care unit (ICU) at a private hospital. The artist struggled with a diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis.
During her career, the artist has composed more than 500 songs. Saga de Um Vaqueiro is one of the most successful songs of his career.
Rita has recorded songs by several singers and bands and is the composer of the most successful songs of the forró bands Mastruz com Leite, Cavalo de Pau, Mel com Terra, Catuaba com Amendoim, Embers do Forró, Banda Styllus, Aviões do Forró and the singer Eliane, Kátia di Tróia, Amelinha, Marinês, As Mineirinhas and singers Frank Aguiar, Wesley dos Teclados.
Singer Taty Girl mourned the loss of her stage colleague on social media. “I’m fighting Rita de Cássia, I can’t believe it,” he published.
