Maitê Proença and Adriana Calcanhotto were in a relationship for almost a year
A decontextualized statement could have been the trigger for the split between Maitê Proença and Adriana Calcanhoto. The actress and singer split after 11 months together. At the end of June, just after spending Valentine’s Day with Calcanhotto in Italy, Maitê said in an interview that it would be easier for her if her friend “was a man”. It had bad effects and she was accused of lesbophobia. Self clarifying, the answer was not well digested. Neither by the couple’s fans, nor by Adriana.

After the trip, during which Maitê visited other European cities and Adriana returned to Brazil, the two stayed away. When they met again after the interview, the relationship was no longer good. “Adriana was never comfortable with making her private life public, and being in a relationship with a famous actress brought with it that uneasiness,” says a friend of the singer.
Adriana has been touring for months and that has distanced her too, says a source. The end of the relationship was announced to the closest friends, since Maitê and the singer usually did not reveal their relationship on social networks or at public events. But it didn’t end so well.

Adriana stopped following Maitê, who is still following the singer. But a comment a few days ago on the actress’ profile already denounced that something was not going well. A fan decided to give an opinion on Maitê’s statement. “Mimimi from these people condemns you for saying that you prefer Adriana to a man. You said it in a context of life, your past preferences, love for people and not just for the gender of the person. Tired of Mimimi, you can’t talk anymore how uncomfortable this judgmental interpretation of people saying they are so open,” he wrote. Maite responded with an emoji and agreed.
Maitê and Adriana Calcanhotto came into play after being introduced by José Maurício Machline, one of the actress’ best friends and ex. At his home in Angra dos Reis, the novel began and was later unveiled in September last year.
Some of the actress’ posts also raised alarm among those who follow the couple on social networks. “I was wrong about myself because I wanted to be right about others,” Maitê posted in Stories, using a card from another profile.
