The Houston Astros signed second baseman Jose Altuve to a five-year contract extension on Tuesday.
The new agreement covers the 2025 through 2029 seasons and the amount was not disclosed by the Texas organization. However, the ESPN network reports that the contract will pay the veteran $125 million.

In 2024, the 33-year-old athlete will sign a seven-year contract worth a total of $163 million. Altuve has never worn a uniform other than that of the Astros in Major League Baseball. He has been playing there since the 2011 season.
The Venezuelan native has won the World Series twice (2017 and 2022) and has been selected to the All-Star Game eight times. He has one Gold Glove (2015) and six Silver Sticks (2014-2018, 2022).
In 12 major league seasons, Altuve had a .307 batting average and hit 209 home runs.
