Firefighters have initiated an emergency protocol after “three booms” were felt on New York's Roosevelt Island early Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the 580 block of Main Street, south of the Roosevelt Island Bridge & Tram, just before 6 a.m. after receiving reports of an explosion and shaking of the building, FDNY told Web.
Residents of Roosevelt Island reported being awakened by at least “three bangs and shaking” this morning, with the third vibration “felt further away.”
Firefighters currently remain on scene trying to find the source of the possible explosion. EMS officials have reportedly claimed that FDNY crews are investigating “multiple service hole fires.”

Emergency responders have reported “noticeable vibrations” in Roosevelt Island, Manhattan and Queens and have reportedly called on energy company Con Edison to “resolve power outages in multiple buildings.”
No injuries were reported in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
Residents on the island said their walls shook from the impact, while people from Astoria across the East River said the thunderous noise woke them up.
“It was very loud,” said one island resident. “The walls were shaking and you could hear my windows rattling.”
One Astoria resident said the explosion was so powerful it felt like “a truck plowed into our building.”
“Loud banging and shaking.” We're still trying to recover from that. “Scary stuff,” they said.
“I woke up shaking all the way in Astoria!” said another man.
