Tuesday night was historic in Major League Baseball when 12 teams scored at least 10 points.
This is the first time such an offensive explosion has been recorded in the major leagues since 1894. As of July 4 of that year, 13 teams had scored at least 10 runs. On average, an average of 7.38 points per game was scored back then. So far in 2023, clubs are averaging 4.60 points per game.

In addition, four games on Tuesday night involved teams that scored at least 10 points in total. These are the duels between the New York Mets and the Chicago White Sox (11-10), the San Francisco Giants and the Cincinnati Reds (11-10), the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Atlanta Braves (16-13) and the Kansas City Royals and the Detroit Tigers (11-10).
This is the third time in major league history that such a scenario has occurred. The other two events are from July 4th and 9th, 1894.
