MONTRAL, Jan. 8, 2024 /CNW/ – The Minister of Transportation and Sustainable Mobility is informing road users and his partners that the major Louis Hippolyte-LaFontaine Tunnel repair project can now be subject to mobile photo radar monitoring in both directions to Highway 25 .
The aim of this initiative is to ensure the safety of road users and workers. In fact, some users were found not to respect the speed limit during off-peak hours. Remember that the speed limit in the construction site is 50 km/h at all times.
Signage upstream informs road users. The corresponding sign uses, on an orange background, the pictogram used elsewhere on the road network to indicate the possible presence of a photo radar.
If a violation is detected by photo radar, no penalty point will be entered into the vehicle owner's record, but the amount of the fine will be doubled if the violation is committed in a construction site.
Road users are asked to consult the list of road construction zones targeted by photo radars on Qubec 511.
